Involvement by a New Partner in a Family Law Matter
Many of our clients ask about what they can do (if anything) about their ex partner’s new relationship. Examples of issues that arise include:
- denigration by the new partner
- the new partner having a very different parenting style
- the partner allowing the children to do or say things that you may not agree with and
- the new partner creating communicating issues between you and your ex-partner.
If you have genuine safety concerns for your children in relation to a new partner, we recommend that you seek immediate legal advice and/or report those concerns to the relevant authority. You are responsible for ensuring your children’s safety and we can advise you of the legal methods available to you to try and ensure your children’s safety.
