Celebrity Divorce

Divorce can be a difficult process, even at the best of times when parties are amicable. Celebrity divorces can be even more challenging as both parties are in the public eye. They are watched more carefully and can be scrutinised by the public more than the usual separating couple.
Most people don’t know about the property settlements of divorced couples.  Sometimes you might hear something from a friend, but mostly they are kept confidential.

But for Karl Stefanovic (host of Today) and his wife Cassandra, their property settlement (referred to in the news as Divorce – although they have not yet technically divorced) has been splashed all over the news.
Karl Stefanovic and his wife of 21 years Cassandra Thorburn have separated and reportedly finalised their divorce. And the details have been made public.

The former couple announced their marriage breakdown in October 2016.

As at the time of writing (May 2017), they would not have been able to finalise the breakdown of the marriage by obtaining a divorce due to the time restriction on applying for a divorce in Australia, however, they may have very well reached a property settlement (which can be done prior to the divorce) and this has been reported as having been reached.

It is alleged that the couple have settled their property matters by Karl Stefanovic reportedly walking away with roughly $500,000 worth of cash and assets.

As reported by The Sunday Telegraph, the Today host is leaving his wife with assets worth over $6 million as well as agreeing to pay money for ongoing payments and child support.
Stefanovic is thought to be currently the highest paid personality on Australian TV with Channel 9 reportedly paying him $3 million a year for his hosting role on Today (in 2017).
