In 2013 the Law Council conducted the National Attrition and Re-engagement Study (NARS) to obtain quantitative data and confirm trends in progression and attrition rates of female lawyers. The research also examined the qualitative reasons behind these trends.

The NARS Report developed from this research will be officially launched at the National Press Club, Canberra on Friday 14 March 2014.

The Law Council has confirmed journalist and ABC News Breakfast host Ms Virginia Trioli to facilitate the event and the first female managing partner of a top 30 law firm, Ms Sharon Cook, as a keynote speaker. The event will also include a panel discussion which will further discuss the Report and its outcomes. Panel members include:

  • Ms Fiona McLeod SC, Victorian Bar
  • Ms Helen Conway, Director, Workplace Gender Equality Agency
  • Ms Sally Macindoe, Partner, Norton Rose Fulbright
  • Mr Kevin McCann AM, Chair, Male Champions of Change
  • Mr Chris Freeland, Managing Partner, Baker McKenzie

The Official Launch will also include a panel discussion, which will further discuss the Report and its outcomes.

If you are interested in attending the Official Launch of the NARS Report, places are limited! Please email giesel.manalo@lawcouncil.asn.au by Monday 3 March 2014 to enquire.
