Peace within is about our experience of peace, irrespective of what is going on around us.
We have capacity to develop and foster our own peace within.
Here are 5 tips to foster greater peace within:
Tip 1: Awareness to how you feel
Bring awareness to the moment by just stopping for moment to notice how you are feeling. Not judging or assessing the feeling, just recognising it.
Tip 2: Release mind chatter
Bring awareness to any chatter in your mind. Can you allow it to pass through so there is no chatter, even for just a moment.
Tip 3: Focus on the Breath
Focus on how you are breathing. Can you take slower, deeper breaths? Notice yourself as you are taking slower, more relaxed breaths.
Tip 4: Smile
My yoga teacher is often reminding our class to smile when we are doing difficult poses. I did some further investigation as to why this was the case, and now it certainly makes sense. Research has shown that when we smile our brain releases neuropeptides which aid in releasing stress. Then other neurotransmitters such as dopamine, serotonin and endorphins which come, and these make us feel good and tell our body to relax.
Tip 5: You are doing great.
Remind yourself that you are doing well. You are doing the best you can in the situation. And it is all working out for you, even if it is not clear what that will be yet.
